Kapolei Commons & Costco to open soon

February 2009

Kapolei Commons is fast approaching opening day with shelves being stocked for Target's grand opening on Sunday, March 8, and Sports Authority, Office Max and Petco early March openings.  Together, they will be the first group of retailers in the shopping center's first phase.  The center, which is a joint project of Kobayashi Group and The MacNaughton Group, has a growing list of other businesses that have committed to being future tenants.  They include Ross Dress for Less, Aloha Salads, Bank of Hawaii, Kua Aina Sandwich Shop, the party supply store, Let's Party, L'Mour Nails, Salon Bobbi and Guy, Subway, Verizon, Vitamin Shoppe, and a multi-screen Regal Cinemas.  At full build-out, Kapolei Commons will add more than 1,500 permanent jobs to the community.

"We are very pleased and proud to contribute to Kapolei's growth by bringing quality jobs to the region and adding to the shopping, dining and entertainment experience of Kapolei's residents, " said Todd Hedrick, director of leasing and property management for The MacNaughton Group.

Big box retailer Costco Warehouse and Gas Station, located across from Home Depot and next to the Kapolei Court Complex, is slated to open by Friday, February 27.  Costco will add about 225 jobs to Kapolei.

Even though it hasn't yet celebrated its grand opening, Chun Wah Kam Noddle Factory is already a popular dining spot, drawing big crowds to its Crossroads at Kapolei location.  The restaurant, which is owned by Crocodile Partners, has already earned kudos for its good food and generous portions.

Construction continues on the Kapolei Court Complex, which is scheduled to open in spring 2010.  The complex will generate about 225 jobs.
